A few words on three sedimentary rock: limestone, sandstone, shale by research studys

What is limestone?

Limestone: It is a calcareous sedimentary rock. Limestone or Calcium Carbonate is generally not soluble in water. But it gets readily dissolved in rainwater or acid solutions when it is transformed to Calcium Bicarbonate, which is not resistant to erosion and highly permeable. Surface water sinks underground through holes on the surface of the earth carved by solution actions of rainwater in Limestone regions. Limestone may be white, grey, green or blackish in colour. It is used as a raw material in making cement and in the iron and steel industry.

What is sandstone?

Sandstone: It is a sedimentary rock rich in sand. It is resistant to erosion in spite of being highly porous and permeable. Architects use it in making epitaphs and monuments. It is yellow, orange, red, pink, white or grey in colour. Soil in regions dominated by Sandstone is saline and infertile. Many architectural wonders in India, like the Red Fort, the temples in Udaygiri-Khandagiri and Khajuraho, have been made out of Sandstone.

What is shale?

Shale: It is a sedimentary rock rich in clay. It is blackish grey in colour. Thin layers are evidently seen in it. It is an example of fine-grained rock and is highly porous. It is a soft and brittle rock. This rock is widely used in making roof-tiles of buildings as they separate along thin layers or foliations. This should be avoided in right construction as it is brittle.

What is density and density of the earth.

What is density ? Density of a matter is its mass per unit volume. It is measured by the measure of its mass contained in one cubic centimetre of its volume. Density of a matter gives us an idea of how close, or how far apart, its molecules are. An iron plate feels heavier than an aluminum plate of the same volume, simply because iron is denser than aluminum.

An account to igneous rocks Granite: continental crust, Basalt:ocenic crust by research studys

An account to igneous rocks Granite: Continental crust is mainly formed of this Ba rock. It is composed of quartz, feldspar, mica and ro homblende and the colour of this rock varies from white, grey to pink. This is an impermeable rock. Granite is m very much resistant to erosion as it is heavy and very hard. Granite is coarse granied as the magma is cooled and solidified very slowly in the earths interior (diameter >3 mm). Landforms developed on the regions of granite rock are generally rounded and domal.
